Overview of position: We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar for an industrially funded project. The research focuses on developing waterborne polymers with high levels of renewable biomass using renewable nanoparticles in heterogeneous polymerizations. The goal is to produce high-biomass latexes for coatings, sealants, plastics, films, and adhesives. The position is for one year and renewable annually, depending on funding and performance.
Primary responsibilities include synthesizing renewable monomers, polymers, and composites, characterizing raw materials and reaction products, and overseeing product performance testing. The post-doctoral scholar will manage and train undergraduate and graduate students and foster the development of fellow group members. They will also communicate research findings through publications in peer reviewed journals, presentations at meetings, writing quarterly reports, and discussions with commercial partners.

Required Qualifications: ï‚· Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field. ï‚· Proven experience in synthesizing and characterizing polymers ï‚· Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: ï‚· Expertise in synthetic polymer chemistry, polymer characterization techniques, and mechanical testing of materials ï‚· Background in emulsion polymerization and familiarity with cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and nanofibrils ï‚· Experience with NMR, SEC, DSC, DMA, and TEM
