Position description
This position will work as a research assistant under PI Gerbrand Ceder as part of his autonomous laboratory team. Within that team, the candidate will assist in various research projects, including both infrastructure development and materials discovery campaigns. In particular, the candidate will assist in the short term re-installing of components of autonomous laboratory components to a new laboratory space. In conjunction with this, the candidate will contribute to developing and implementing new components into Alab, including but not limited to gas flow control, autonomous cleaning devices, and automated coin cell fabrication. Finally, the candidate will also learn and grow as a scientist by helping complete long-term synthesis science campaigns under the guidance of senior researchers on the team.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of an advising researcher, assist in the development of devices for Alab
Duties include weekly meetings with PI, lab members, and collaborators, reporting results and planning experiments, and staying up to date with relevant literature
Assist in running samples for synthesis science projects
Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidate must have a Bachelor degree (or equivalent international degree) or be enrolled in a Bachelor (or equivalent international) program at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Bachelor degree (or equivalent international degree) by start date.
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related field
Experimental lab experience in an inorganic synthesis laboratory
Proficiency in hardware and software for laboratory automation
Inorganic materials characterization experience, such as microscopy or diffraction
Experience with battery development and testing, such as creation of coin cells
