ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) in the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Baylor University seeks candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to start in August 2024. The position is open to candidates in Materials Science and Engineering and supports the Signature Academic Initiative area of Materials Science in Baylor's Illuminate Strategic Plan. Candidates with areas of research and teaching that compliment departmental strengths are encouraged to apply. These areas include but are not limited to: advanced and additive manufacturing, advanced structural metals, advanced polymer and ceramic composites, modeling and simulation of materials processing, bio and bio-inspired materials, meta-materials, metallurgy, and microstructure and nanostructure characterization. Computational and experimental research thrust areas will be equally considered.
Requirements include an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field, outstanding English communication skills, a commitment to teaching excellence, demonstrated research achievement and publication record, and a commitment to professional activities. Post-doctoral research experience and other related industrial experience will also be considered. In light of Baylor's strong Christian mission, the successful applicant must have an active Christian faith. Responsibilities include active research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, course curriculum development, and professional service. A competitive startup package will accompany the position.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering
Baylor's BSME program is ABET/EAC-accredited and the ME department has 17 tenured/tenure-track faculty, two clinical faculty, and three full-time lecturers. The faculty are internationally recognized in research areas including Biomechanics, Biomedical Sensors, Additive and Advanced Manufacturing, Ceramic and Polymeric Composites, Sustainable Energy and Power Systems, Combustion, Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics, Fiber Suspension Mechanics, and Interfacial Fluid Mechanics. The ME department is housed in the Rogers Engineering Building and has state-of-the art research facilities in the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) (www.baylor.edu/bric). The ME department jointly oversees the Pre-engineering program, offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and BS in Engineering, MS in Biomedical Engineering, and Master of Engineering degrees.
