The Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Youngstown State University seeks an outstanding inorganic/materials chemist at the tenure-track assistant professor rank with a research specialization that complements the strengths within the department and the college of STEM. Must be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate inorganic chemistry lecture and laboratory courses and to develop and sustain an externally funded research program involving undergraduate, MS students, and Materials Ph.D. students.
The YSU Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences is comprised of 12 full-time tenure track faculty, 2 lecturers, 4 staff members, over 50 majors in its BS and BA programs and an active MS program with 14 students. The department is exceptionally well-equipped in research instrumentation, and offers a rich, hands-on 'learning through research' experience for its students. As part of the College of STEM, the department also participates in the YSU Ph.D. program in Materials Science & Engineering.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D in inorganic or materials chemistry or closely related discipline, by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral and teaching experience is highly desirable. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in synthesis and characterization of novel inorganic compounds or materials. Applications are particularly encouraged that complement existing Departmental and STEM College strengths in materials, biochemistry, organic and/or physical chemistries, and additive manufacturing.
